William J. Elliott, IV, grew up in southwest Virginia and graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 1975. After graduation he sold medical supplies and equipment in Knoxville, Tennessee, before joining Hays Chevrolet in 1978. He became dealer-operator in 1980 and acquired the franchise in 1981.

William has maintained an active role in the community, having served on the Board of Directors of the Staunton-Augusta Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Staunton Board of Zoning Appeals. He is an active Rotarian.

He's been actively involved with young people, supporting programs like "Operation Outreach", the Future Farmers of America and the Hometown Scholarship Program. William also sponsors the "Marriage Before The Carriage" program, which promotes teen abstinence.

An avid outdoorsman, William enjoys golf, hunting and fishing. He is a member of the Izaak Walton League, is a sponsor of the Ruffed Grouse Society and is a life-sponsor of Ducks Unlimited.
